Now, no one imagined that Apex Legends and Warzone would soon open the video game industry like an anthill, so at the time it was entirely reasonable to assume that the genre had already expressed its full potential, ready to be replaced by the next.

It was the end of 2018, and while the progenitor of this dynasty of commercial successes, PUBG, was now almost forgotten by Western users, Fortnite had already become something different, an experience in its own right, a transmedia and cultural phenomenon that would have marked an entire generation.
